Book Project fonts
Why I chose the book Princess of the Midnight Ball:
This book is a retelling of the Grimms' fairy tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses. I'm a big fan of fairy tales, especially the unedited and updated versions.Characters & personifying them with type
King Under Stone (prologue narrative) is a manipulative and scheming evil being who once was human. He's so horrible that his voice sounds "like a steel blade breaking on stone". I chose the font Georgia to show that he is firm and ungiving.
Galen (soldier narrative) is the hero of the story. He is a brave former soldier who now works as the undergardener in the royal garden. He's had a tough life but is genuine, caring and a skilled hard worker. Adobe Carlson Pro is the font I chose to represent the handsome yet gentle soldier/undergardener. The font reminded me of standard issued items that our military members receive. Galen may have been issued a rough life, but he is an upright character of courage.
Princess Rose (princess narrative) is the responsible, refined, eldest daughter who looks after her younger sisters. Since the death of her mother the queen, she is also the hostess for state affairs at the castle. She is burdened with a curse and a member of the royal family, but is still gracious towards others. Apple Chancery is the font I selected to demonstrate her sensitive, delicate, and resilient beauty.
